Irish Government raises Britain’s failings on Pat Finucane, inquests and SHA with European Court

Today’s submission by the Irish Minister for Foreign Affairs Charlie Flanagan to the European Court of Human Rights’ Committee of Ministers makes for interesting reading.

The statement expresses frustration at the lack of progress on legacy issues, legacy inquests, the implementation of the Stormont House Agreement and calls for action on the case of Pat Finucane.

It is a strongly worded statement which is a call to action and states clearly that the Irish Government wishes to be an equal partner in the delivery of effective mechanisms to victims and survivors.
